Robert W Kelsall is Professor of Semiconductor Nanotechnology at the University of Leeds and is currently Head of the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Previously he was Director of the Centre for Molecular Nanoscience at the University of Leeds. He graduated with the BSc (Hons) and PhD degrees from the University of Durham in 1985 and 1989 respectively. His doctoral research involved the development of Monte Carlo simulations of electronic transport in GaAs quantum wells. His research interests are in the simulation and design of nanostructured electronic and photonic semiconductor devices including, in particular, silicon-compatible photonic devices for integrated optical data communications. He has published over 350 papers in international journals and at national/international conferences. Prof. Kelsall is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Physics.
