Bio:
Dr. Ioannis Vourkas is Associate Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering of Federico Santa Maria Technical University (UTFSM) in Valparaiso, Chile. Ever since 2018, he also holds an associate researcher appointment with the AC3E Research Center of UTFSM. Dr. Vourkas obtained his M. Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) from the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTh), Greece, in 2008 and 2014, respectively. In 2015 he became a postdoctoral researcher at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC). His research focuses on resistive RAM (ReRAM) characterization, modeling and simulation, and on computing circuits and architectures comprising resistive switching devices (memristors). His research is funded by the Chilean National Agency for Research and Development (ANID) and by Synopsys R&D in Chile. He is an IEEE CASS and NanoGiga Technical Committee member, and he has been with the Editorial Board of Elsevier Microelectronics Journal ever since 2017. He has been a scholar of the Greek BODOSSAKI Foundation (2011 to 2014) and of the Santander Universities Program (2018/2019).
